Following the dictionary's definition, PASSION means "alive zest, accompanied by pleasure for the object of study or the profession carried out", synonym with ENTHUZIASM.
Coming into contact with different persons that practice various professions, we had the opportunity to see people putting passion into what they do but also people practicing a profession without having zest for that certain domain. Therefore, an opinion has been reconfirmed: in order to practice certain professions, you need PASSION.
A question naturally arises: does a trainer need PASSION?
To be able to answer this question, we invite you to think about the trainer's role when they deliver a training session. We consider that role to be double – to transfer information towards participants and to motivate them in having a different view on things, to put that knowledge and those abilities into practice and apply them in real life.
In other words, a trainer's role is to trigger changes in perception. We consider that the trainer needs a great passion for what he/she is doing because this way he/she sends energy, enthusiasm, will for action towards people he/she interacts with and therefore triggers changes in perception and motivates participants to apply into practice the concepts learned in training.
A trainer without passion will succeed without problems in carrying out training sessions, but rarely will he / she ever motivate participants. In the best case, a trainer without passion will be a right one, delivering information by the book, according to a previous established agenda. In other words, they will only accomplish the role of transferring information and not the one of motivator. In conclusion, we - TRAINART specialists - strongly believe that you need a great passion, call and vocation to be a trainer. All that because without passion, practically half of the trainer's role is lost. Meaning, the job is only half done.
